THE WORK OF THE PORTERS IS REMARKABLE
Our tent porter, Matias, clearly saw his job as hospitality. The work of the porters is remarkable and Matias made it seem burden-free, despite the physicality of it. What wonderful client service skills he had. We looked forward to being greeted by him at camp after our daily trek. His smile was contagious and he was genuinely interested in how our day was. He was curious about a ball and cup game, Kendama, that my son played. It wasn’t long that Matias was playing and introduced the game to other porters. I had to coax my son into the dinner tent, away from the nightly porter Kendama game. Matias joked that he wanted to have a “Kendama tournament.” He is a leader and encouraged his peers. Thomson is lucky to have him.
