Guiding is more than a career for Pendaeli, it’s in his blood! His grandfather, Yohana, guided the first successful Kilimanjaro climb in 1889. After years working as a porter, then an assistant Kilimanjaro guide, Pendaeli now carries on the Lauwo tradition as a head guide for Thomson.
Charles was born in the small coastal village of Korogwe, but these days he’s more comfortable in the clouds: he’s professionally summited Kilimanjaro over 150 times! When he’s not on the mountain he loves, Charles enjoys spending time with his wife and three children.
Born in Marangu Village, just southeast of Mt. Kilimanjaro, Bernard still lives there today with his two children. Bernard’s warm, outgoing personality has helped motivate trekkers on his over 150 professional summits.
Born in the foothills of Kilimanjaro, Onesphory loves nothing more than meeting new people and learning about distant cultures. When he’s not leading treks, Onesphory enjoys traveling to places like Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.
Msafiri’s name means “the traveler.” It’s appropriate for a man who’s journeyed up Mt. Kilimanjaro more than 100 times. He loves learning from guests he leads up the mountain, and has a passion for learning languages.
Born in Kilimanjaro’s foothills, Godlove studied in the U.S. before returning to a head guide position in Tanzania. Thoughtful, intelligent, and compassionate, Godlove has more than 100 professional summits. He lives with his family in Arusha.
Awed by Kilimanjaro’s majesty, Wilbard started working on the mountain in 1986. A master of details, he works tirelessly to keep climbers happy and healthy. That dedication has led to over 200 professional summits.
Born in Tanzania’s southern highlands, Andrew sees guiding as more than a job: it’s his calling. He believes climbing cultivates a healthy body and mind. And he’s the proof: Andrew’s achieved more than 150 professional summits!
Prosper puts Kilimanjaro trekkers at ease with his easygoing nature, but he’s serious about the climbs he leads: he counts over 150 successful summits. Born in Kilimanjaro’s foothills, between treks Prosper tends his farm with his wife and five children.
