All the guides and porters were just great, but you really have a gem with our assistant guide, Sunday.
He was FANTASTIC. Without his help, I would not have made it to the top. He had us all laughing and forgetting how hard climbing up was, especially during the hardest times climbing up! He also offered to carry my water bottles along with his huge backpack. He is extremely capable and was in good spirits 100% of the time. I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone like him before. I felt very safe with him there.
My son and I wanted to see a sunrise so he offered to get us up before dawn and take us to see it. Of course, I couldn’t take decent pictures of the sunrise but he even knew how to use my camera and zoom in and get the best photos! As you can gather, Sunday was a huge part of us having fun on this really hard climb.
Ras Nungwi in Zanzibar was the BEST PART of the trip. We all loved it!!!
Looking back at everything, it was an adventure and I can certainly understand how important the role of Thomson is in a country like Tanzania. I would certainly recommend Thomson again.
