Brother and sister, Matt and Heather, trekked Mount Kilimanjaro’s Western Approach Route in August 2013. Here’s what they had to say about their experience:

The trip was amazing, every part of it. I worked on Capitol Hill for the past eight years and have had the privilege of traveling all over the world meeting with kings, prime ministers, professionals and students. I say this because I really was blown away by the trip, and not just the natural beauty, organization, and hospitality. What really impressed me was the people, the Thomson Safaris employees, who were fantastic and whose smiles were contagious.

What an incredible team you have in Tanzania.  These people are smart, some of the hardest workers I’ve ever seen, and have a genuine desire to improve their lives and the lives of others. There’s spirit and hope here, and at levels that you can’t fully grasp or describe in words. Take Glory or Penda or any one of the 20-something Thomson employees. Empowered youth that are leaders and role models that have the potential – the brains, energy, and hope – to change Africa and our world. And that’s a take away worth every dime and second.

The Kilimanjaro trek challenged us physically, mentally and emotionally… it was worth every minute.  What an amazing and life changing experience.

Thank you again!

This trip was truly the most amazing thing I’ve ever done. I still have trouble really explaining it to people; it’s just something you can’t really put into words.

Every single person involved in our trek was wonderful. I think the whole Thomson crew had SUCH an impact on all of us.

I’ve always had such a love for traveling and now all I do is think of the next place I can go to!

I loved seeing all the extra stuff that Thomson does and it’s really inspired me to be a better person and change my life.  I want to do something meaningful and I want to make an impact on people’s lives.  I would drop everything right now and move to Tanzania!

Thank you again for having such an impact on my life!!  It definitely had that much of an impact on me and I know if other people had that opportunity it would change their lives too. It will be something I never forget!
