Continue reading From Porters to Head Guides: The Journey of Thomson’s Kilimanjaro Leaders

For the dedicated Kilimanjaro guides leading Thomson treks, becoming a head guide is the result of years of hard work, training, and genuine passion. We sat down with several team members who began their careers at Thomson to learn about their journeys from porters to head guides.

After completing formal schooling and embarking on countless treks, these guides gained the vital experience and leadership skills essential for success on the mountain. They credit Thomson with playing a pivotal role in their journeys—providing education, mentorship, and opportunities for growth.

Their passion is unmistakable, and as a trekker, you feel it too—in their expertise and encouragement during tough climbs, in their pride at every sunrise, and in the way they make your journey feel like part of something greater.
