Seven Summits Climber Continues to the Ends of the Earth to Reach Goal

Climbing Kilimanjaro with Thomson Safaris was an absolute pleasure. I couldn’t have wished for a better support team for my ‘7th’ summit! Vanessa O’Brien completed the Seven Summits challenge with Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, Africa and plans on completing the Explorer’s Grand Slam when she reaches the North Pole next month.

Marathoner and Thomson Safaris Kilimanjaro trekker, Megan, ran a fantastic race in Moshi’s Kilimanjaro Marathon in February. Placing 24th, she was the first non-African woman to finish.

At 78, Helga set a goal to climb Kilimanjaro and became the second-oldest woman ever to reach the top.
She said “It came as a big surprise to me that I am the second oldest woman to successfully have reached the summit. I’m sure it is only thanks to Thomson Safaris’ superb crew.”

Last weekend, Through the Roof, a documentary about the first female paraplegic to summit Mt. Kilimanjaro, premiered in Carlsbad, California. The film received great reviews as well as a standing ovation. Thomson Safaris was the official tour operator of this inspiring trek.
