Tarangire National Park
From Arusha you’ll set out for Tarangire, home to some of the largest herds of elephant in East Africa. Unwind at your exclusive Nyumba camp, nestled beneath the park’s majestic baobab trees. You’ll enjoy delicious dinners and the chance to relax around a campfire, under the brilliant stars.
Overnights: Tarangire Nyumba
On your journey through the verdant Ngorongoro highlands, you’ll stop at a traditional Maasai boma (a settlement of circular mud-and-dung huts), where you’ll learn more about this traditional pastoralist culture. Your Nyumba is perched on the crater rim, perfectly situated for and early journey into the crater, before the crowds descend. In the crater, you’ll marvel at this self-contained ecosystem, holding the highest concentration of mammals in the world. After your visit to this untouched paradise, you’ll understand why Ngorongoro Crater is often called “Africa’s Eden.”

Serengeti National Park
On your drive west, you’ll stop at Olduvai Gorge, the site where the Leakeys discovered “Zinj,” one of our most ancient hominid ancestors. From there, continue to the Serengeti, a land of rolling plains teeming with wildlife. See lion, cheetah, warthog, rhino, antelope, hippo, giraffe, zebra and the infamous migration of the wildebeest. Evenings in the bush will be a treat in your beautiful and exclusive Nyumba Camps, moved seasonally for optimal wildlife viewing.
Join an optional hot air balloon ride to take in sweeping views of the Serengeti from above. (Advanced reservations and additional fees apply).

Serengeti National Park to Arusha / Return to North America
Take a scenic flight back to Arusha this morning where you’ll enjoy a special farewell lunch and time for souvenir shopping. Relax in your day room before an evening transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for the flight to Amsterdam. Arrive home on Day 18.
Day Room: Mount Meru Hotel
An authentic experience awaits you at this private camp in Tarangire. Conveniences like solar lighting and ensuite bathrooms with hot showers add a comforting touch to this safari retreat. In the evenings, enjoy dinner prepared from local ingredients, and chat with friendly staff and fellow travelers as you watch the sun set behind towering baobab trees.
The Ngorongoro camp is set on the eastern edge of the Ngorongoro Crater’s rim and offers the best possible access in and out of the crater, as well as a more private, remote experience. In the morning, you have the eastern floor of the crater almost completely to yourself. In the evenings, when you return to camp, you’ll be greeted with the hospitality that is a hallmark of all of your Nyumba camps. Settle in to your spacious tent, enjoy a hot safari-shower in your en suite facilities, head to the campfire for a drink before dinner, and enjoy a traditional Tanzanian meal — a specialty of the camp chefs here. Don’t forget to bundle up at this camp, as temperatures can be as low as 40 degrees from May to October.
These semi-permanent, seasonal camps are strategically plotted across the Serengeti according to wildlife migration patterns. Each location offers comfort in the heart of the wilderness. With spacious tents, cozy bedding, and ensuite bathrooms, you’ll have to take a look outside to be reminded that you’re deep in the bush. And no need to worry—with eco-friendly features like solar lighting, your stay is not harming the landscape.
